Covid-19 Safety & Prevention Shipping Procedure & Policy Change

Covid-19 Prevention Shipping Safety Policy

Please note: due to COVID-19, order deliveries are typically delayed an additional 5-15 business days.

To ensure customer safety for all shipments and to address concerns during these unprecedented times as we safeguard and understand COVID-19 further to stop the spread of this disease, we have been diligent in following the latest safeguards and facts daily to keep everyone safe as best possible. With this in mind, Baby On The Way has slowed down on expediting shipments and implemented rigorous cleaning policies, maintaining a quarantine period on expedited inventory for 3-5 days, and implementing strict hand washing for over 30 seconds and adding the use of sterile gloves for any items being packaged.

As you may be aware, over the last week across our nation, the demands on local supply chains and manufacturer distributors in the USA and abroad, have continued to be slow to update or restock certain items quickly for customer shipments, as government agencies and healthcare departments scramble to get the much needed supplies first to help those affected by the corona-virus.

Baby On The Way will always put the safety of our customers first

With that in mind, Baby On The Way has been in constant contact to confirm the availability from suppliers of the goods needing to be shipped, and has also been addressing the concerns that some consumers have about receiving items through the mail, although the CDC and WHO international has and still states that you can’t catch COVID-19 from shipping packages that have been in transit for more than a few days.

As we have continued to source and confirm quality supply options for our families, friends, communities and customers over this last week, we wanted to make sure that deliveries would not become another potential for concern, and that the logistical delays seen these last few weeks due to the increased demands, would not affect anyone, as new updates and shutdowns are announced. At this point with what is still being confirmed, we are noticing that packages will still in most cases get delivered even during times of extended quarantine, and that the longer they take for delivery, will further ensure that there is no potential for contamination as the virus cannot survive that long.

Customer precautions to avoid with in-store and fast delivery

As consumers race to stock up quickly, it is highly recommended to avoid touching your face while out around others, and to avoid more than 6 feet between the next person to reduce the spread of the corona-virus. For quick delivery packages, it is recommended to either wait a few days from the departure to arrival time of your shipment, to ensure there are no contagious properties present as we know it will not survive on these surfaces long. And as always, we should all thoroughly wash our hands for over 20 seconds with soap and hot water, or apply a hand-sanitizer after having contact at your local store or when opening a package that has been delivered in less than a few days.

Cleanliness protocols ensure the safety of your order.

Each employee at Baby On The Way who packs orders must wash their hands for 30 seconds or longer before beginning work on packing and in addition new sterile vinyl gloves will be worn as added protection. Our work areas are cleaned prior to shipping with sterilization chemicals, and we'll be covering our nose and mouth as a new policy, to add additional preventative measures by implementing a common courtesy, common sense approach.

Are your products at risk if they come from China?

No, having to source inventory from manufacturer suppliers abroad in Asia is something every business in America has been doing, and is currently having to do at this time as local suppliers run dry with the ability to fulfill orders. On occasions and during this time, we are working with several highly recommended suppliers in our industry that is in the Guangdong region which is to the far south in Asia, along with another in the far north in the Shenyang region; both of which are very far away from the epicenter of cases in Wuhan located in central China. When we look at both of these areas with low impact levels to the north and south that are no longer reporting cases and have began manufacturing logistics again with even greater safety and cleanliness measures in place at the airports; we can safely say that they both have a much lower ratio of contagiousness, when compared to the US states and other countries in the world who are seeing the numbers continue to increase.

As an added measure to relieve concerns and ensure safety of arrival for all, we will not be providing expedited orders, and will instead select shipments to take the safe route of 2-3 weeks for delivery from the time they depart to arrive in your area. This safeguard of slowing down deliveries will assure us and our customers, that there will be no possibility of a virus being spread from one place to another, regardless of where you are in the world when your shipment arrives.

As a new additional protection our expedited inventory is quarantined

Each shipment received from China spends 5 days in isolation before being added back into our current inventory. Current scientific evidence shows that viruses similar to COVID-19 virus can not live past 2 days on any surface. There are numerous scientific articles supporting this which we have been researching, and here a few of those below:

Am I at Risk with Packages Shipped from China? - CDC - "In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread most often by respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of COVID-19 in the United States associated with imported goods."

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), based on knowledge from similar viruses, it could survive as long as 48 hours on a surface.

No, You Won't Catch The New Coronavirus Via Packages Or Mail From China, NPR

We wanted to alleviate any concerns that customers and friends have about ordering directly from overseas manufacturer distribution channels during these uncertain times, and ensure that we are working extensively to protect ourselves and our community of amazing families to prevent further spread of Covid-19.

Will my order be delayed?

Due to the nature of our business (direct manufacture-to-consumer model) - COVID19 has slightly impacted our operations and may result in occasional delays to some, but not all orders.

The average delay time taken from the last 10000 orders in the past few months worldwide, has been an extra 5-15 business days.

Our average order delivery time is 5-15 business days for the US, UK, CA, AU & NZ. With the delay, it is now 10-25 business days. With 15-20 being the average.

We hope you understand how difficult it is operating even despite how challenging external circumstances outside of our control can be. And we want to thank you gratefully for your patience in us delivering your much wanted order!

If you want to get an update on your order, or get an approximate ETA for a product to a particular region/city/country - please contact us and we can help.
